South Bengal Under Flood Waters, More Water Released [VIDEO]

Webdesk, TNI Durgapur 28^th July 2017: Flood situation worsened at South Bengal after more water released by DVC from its Dams in an around Burdwan districts. Though DVC declared red alert but the worries are far from over for the flood victims in the districts of Bankura, Howrah, Birbhum etc. that are located in the catchment areas of Damodar River. Yesterday a total of 2,49,450 cusecs water was released from Durgapur Barrage. Two people died in Bankura and Murshidabad district. Amid the cross accusations of releasing DVC water between the Government of West Bengal and DVC, the CM Smt. Mamta Banerjee visited the flood hit areas of Howrah to see the plight of the flood victims. According to the Government sources, more areas of Howrah and Hooghly districts came under water. The Rupnarayan River is flowing much above the danger mark. Further, it is also learned that the West Midnapore is also affected by the Flood. Bus and other transport services are practically stopped here. The century old Kankalitala Kali Mandir is under water forcing the Temple management to shift the Kali Idol to another place after water entered the temple yesterday.
